13km of road winds its way up the impressive, narrow Añisclo valley from Escalona, following the path of the River Bellos. At the top of the valley, a glacial circus plunges down into the Añisclo Gorge.
The road runs up as far as the car park for the San Úrbez chapel, from where you can take an easy circular walk (1 hour) taking you down to the river.
Cross over the Romanesque bridge and you can reach the chapel, built into an overhang in the rock face.
Bear in mind however, that during Easter week and the summer months, the Añisclo Valley road is one way only in the uphill direction. You can come back over via Buerba towards Puyarruego and Escalona, or simply continue towards Fanlo and go down via Sarvisé and the Ara Valley.
