In 1977 UNESCO declared the joint sites of the former Ordesa National Park and the former Viñamala National Hunting Reserve, the Ordesa-Viñamala Bioshpere .
This reserve’s main objectives are to protect natural diversity, to stimulate economic activity and to promote culture.
UNESCO awards the title of Biosphere Reserve to those spaces that possess “the cultural and natural wealth representative of the world’s different ecosystems”.
